Good Interview With Laura Flanders Grit TV

I was pleased to be interviewed by someone who had actually read my new book and asked good questions. It gave me a chance to lay out what the book is about.

I saw the interview, Mr. Schaeffer. It was excellent. I've also seen your appearances on the Rachel Maddow show. The first few times I listened to you I thought you were too good to be true — a fly in the ointment to those who would argue that people of faith cannot be reasoned with.

I think your perspective, both for its honesty and its balance, but equally important if not more so because it is offered by someone of your background, is so critical right now.

I think we need to break out of the paralyzing partisan and ideological divisions we are experiencing in this country. There is so much vitriol being hurled back and forth from fundamentalists, whether they be secular or sectarian, liberal or conservative. We can't afford this now. There is too much at stake.

I appreciate that your approach is more as a centrist, not a left or right-wing radical. We need a great deal more of that.

I hope you continue to fight the good fight, Mr. Schaeffer. I'd like to see your message get a lot more mainstream media attention.
